Questions readers ask
Is criticism of Israel antisemitic?
No. Criticism of Israeli government policy is legitimate. It becomes antisemitic when Jews as a group are held responsible, when Israel alone is denied the right to exist, or when classic anti-Jewish tropes are used. Editorial explanation
Why does antisemitism rise when Israel is at war?
Monitoring groups consistently record spikes after major events in the Middle East. CST, for instance, links the rise from March 2026 to the war involving Israel, the United States and Iran. Jews in London or Amsterdam are then targeted for events they have no part in. [3]
What can churches do?
Name it, reject it, and stand visibly with Jewish neighbours. That includes honestly facing the Church’s own history of anti-Jewish teaching — such as the charge that “the Jews killed Jesus”. Editorial explanation
