From report to publication
Our reporting process

Verify
Names, dates, locations, quotations, images and significant claims are checked. Serious allegations require strong, independent corroboration.

Challenge
Editors test assumptions, ask what is missing and give people or organisations facing criticism a fair opportunity to respond.

Publish
The story is labelled, sourced and reviewed before publication. Urgency never removes our duty to be accurate, fair and clear about uncertainty.

Sources on the record
We name sources whenever possible and link to accessible original documents. We explain what a source knows, not merely what they claim.
Anonymous sources
Anonymity is reserved for information in the public interest when a source faces genuine risk. An editor must know the source’s identity and test motives and access.
Clear labels
News, analysis, opinion, faith reflection and sponsored material are identified clearly. Interpretation is never presented as an established fact.
Corrections
Material errors are corrected promptly and visibly. We state what changed and why; we do not silently remove an error that affects the meaning of a story.
Conflicts of interest
Relevant personal, organisational or financial interests are disclosed. A journalist with a significant conflict does not control the coverage concerned.
Funding firewall
Donors, advertisers, ministries, governments and political organisations cannot buy favourable coverage, suppress a story or approve editorial conclusions.
