Two speeches, two worlds

Today I wake up here in Yafo with mixed feelings. It is the day after the truly wonderful speech by Prime Minister Netanyahu at the UN. Before that, we were treated to the speech by our Prime Minister Jetten, in which he quoted Anne Frank's diary: “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

So far, the only good sentences in his speech. He then placed and defended those words in the context of what I consider the totally superfluous and proven powerless ICC as the guardian of the international legal order. Only to then propose leaving climate policy to smaller and medium-sized countries (really? Netherlands first?).

He also believed there should be better African representation on the Security Council. Excuse me? A continent where the words democracy and human rights are written in very small letters (if any), where real genocide takes place and Christians are murdered by the hundreds of thousands? That continent?

Only to then sneeringly mention Trump in passing and ‘plead’ for economic sanctions against the US as well.

Our own activist screamer in the schoolyard, with his woke friends from Brussels as weak backup, was shining again. The fact that he is also naive enough to think he can propose that AI should be regulated through the UN makes the speech laughable and, above all, dangerous.

Our Goody-Two-Shoes Preacher of the climate and gender church, representative of a Dutch minority cabinet, went off the political deep end again — without mandate or consultation with our parliament. With a moral sermon devoid of real substance. Leaving the Netherlands behind with its own major domestic problems like housing shortages, immigration, a faltering social system, incendiary war rhetoric from politicians, and the agricultural CO2 lock-up for farmers.

You know the one: the Netherlands as the world's second-largest nation in agricultural exports! A tiny country that has to be careful not to be hit by a nonsensical economic boycott itself.

Let's be honest. Discussing and using the boycott as a tool on a UN stage in the US (N.B., the host country), where world peace should be the very topic! Not advocating for waging war with economic weapons! What would Anne Frank think of that?

But our Premier Macher (German for ‘Yes we can…’), who of course acts firmly against buying and eating Jewish dates, doesn't think about that. She'll learn that here in Israel!

Speaking of being the boss of your own body!!!

But at least his tie was straight.

The UN representatives, then still fully present, slept on and were already thinking about the next copious lunch at the taxpayers' expense.

Netanyahu's speech that followed moved me deeply. It was a powerful speech in which this descendant of Jewish refugees was able to present his vision to the world on the world stage, before all the members. At the start of Netanyahu's speech, according to an Israeli count, about 77 delegations were absent or had left; other media spoke of dozens to nearly 70 delegations.

A hundred overpaid moral cowards left this peace podium.

The podium where we once thought, at its founding, that together we could make the world a peaceful place after the devastating Second World War, completely collapsed!

What happened to the British Empire (a permanent member of the Security Council) that divided the Middle East with a pencil and a fine glass of wine after the First and Second World Wars? The country of the Balfour Declaration, no less! The country that then pandered to the Arabs, who, through figures like the fascist Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, had brought about the MacDonald White Paper of 1939, which limited the immigration of persecuted Jews to a meager 75,000 through 1948!

Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazis were consequently stopped, sent back, and even worse: sunk along with their refugee ships or, from 1946 onwards, interned in British detention camps on Cyprus.

During the Farhud pogrom of 1941, according to common historical estimates, about 180 Jews were murdered in Baghdad, and they — supported by the French — thought it was just fine that the oil fields after the war went to Arab desert princes, caliphs, muftis, and dictatorial kings, and let Jews perish in the concentration camps. Unilaterally initiated Arab 'domestic' wars of aggression against Jews already living there and those who had immigrated before the wars were condoned. The British Mandate territory remained firmly shut. Lord Chamberlain et al. saw that it was good. The Arabs were allowed to do as they pleased.

Hypocrisy.

According to my religious conviction, England is now suffering the consequences. This formerly predominantly Christian society is rapidly disintegrating and has become a morally bankrupt society. Antisemitism and Islamic sharia courts are rampant.

‘None is too many’ — ‘one is already one too many’ — was the answer in 1945 from an unidentified senior Canadian official to the question of how many Jewish refugees Canada would admit after the war. They, the victors of the war, the former colonial empires that would just go ahead and 'divide' the rest of the world into spheres of influence. They were too busy with the Cold War and their oil interests to care about the Jewish people and the many other indigenous peoples without a country, along with them.

And what did you get in return, you British?

Mosques that glorify martyrs! Only to then condemn the elected prime minister of the only democratic country in the Middle East and simply allow the predominantly Arab representation to walk out of the UN Assembly? With your oh-so-lofty ICC club? While Netanyahu, in his tiny homeland (¾ the size of the Netherlands), is fighting against the mafia murderers of a death cult, directly and indirectly subsidized by you?

How do they think about Netanyahu here in Israel? Admittedly, not everyone agrees 100% with his tough approach, but they know one thing for sure: he defends and represents the sovereign people of Israel, and rightly so. Without apologies. All support for Bibi!!!
