AI & Synthetic Media Policy
AI tools can help a newsroom work faster. They never replace the editor's responsibility or the evidence behind a story.
A human editor is responsible
Every piece published on GOD News is approved by a human editor, who is accountable for its accuracy whether or not AI tools were used in preparing it.
AI output is never evidence
- Text produced by an AI system is never treated as a source.
- Any factual material prepared with AI assistance, such as translations, summaries or drafts, is independently checked against primary sources before publication.
- Quotes, figures, dates and names are always checked against the original record.
Images and synthetic media
- For hard news we prefer authentic documentary imagery: photographs, primary documents, maps, satellite imagery and data visualisations.
- We do not use generative AI to fabricate documentary news images, or to alter authentic news images in a misleading way.
- AI illustrations are mainly reserved for analysis, explainers and faith reflection.
- Every AI-generated image carries the visible label "AI-generated editorial illustration — not a documentary photograph".
Translations
GOD News publishes in several languages, and some translations are prepared with AI assistance. The original-language version is the reference text: if a translation differs from it, the original prevails and we correct the translation.
Errors
If AI assistance led to an error, we correct it under our normal corrections policy, stating what was wrong and what we changed.
